Winter

It's hard to believe my boys are more than halfway through their Kindergarten year. Alex has really taken off with his reading and writing lately; he's quite the little author and illustrator. Will is playing basketball for the first time this year and starting soccer next week.

A few catch-up photos and anecdotes:

Alex (quite earnestly): "Mommy, if losing screen time isn't the end of the world, then what *is* the end of the world?"

Will: "Can I have some ranch dressing for my salad?"
Me: "Sure. You can go get it."
Will: (studying the fridge door) "Hmm ... I can't find it. I guess I'll just have to use syrup."
He may have actually been raised by elves.

When we got A&W's second quarter report cards last week, the one reminder/area for improvement for Will was he sometimes needs reminders to focus on the lesson instead of on other children. I talked to him a little about that on Thursday.
Then this morning as he was getting ready for school, he said, "You know what I did the other day? Adrianna kept trying to talk to me when we were supposed to be working. She kept saying, 'Will ... Will ...' And you know what I did? (pause for effect) I *kept working.*" He smiled and then said in all seriousness, "Genius. That was genius."

Tom (impressed that Alex had read the directions on his math worksheet by himself): "Alex, where'd you get all your smarts from, me or mom?"
Alex: "Kindergarten!"
